Elvis hour on Caroline

TODD SLAUGHTER'S ELVIS HOUR

Tuesday night is most definitely oldies night on Radio Caroline and it becomes even more so on Tuesday, February 12th. Not only will we have Del Richardson's Good Rockin' Tonight and the 60's & 70's Request Show but also Todd Slaughter's Elvis Hour which you can hear from 5pm UK Time.

Todd has been running the Elvis Presley Fan Club of Great Britain for over 40 years, since 14th August 1967 no less, though he been actively involved in the Elvis world since 1962, which means he's really old! Over the years his Elvis shows have been heard on a variety of radio stations, and in 1998 he won the Sony Award for his programme "Elvis 10 Years After" broadcast by Radio Trent in  Nottingham .

Todd did in fact audition for Radio Caroline in the 1960’s and went on board the Mi Amigo, but says he felt like a child amongst men when rubbing shoulders with the likes of Tom Lodge, Rosko and DLT. In the 1970’s Todd operated CLUB 208 for Radio Luxembourg and was a guest on their Elvis specials hosted by former Caroline North presenter Tony Prince.

Interestingly, Elvis’s manager Colonel Parker came from a Dutch seafaring family and one of his cousins worked for the Wijsmuller tendering company. Col Tom was always interested to talk about European pirate radio and as kid often stowed away on one of his Uncle’s vessels. He knew Harwich well.

Todd says that he’s delighted to be joining Radio Caroline with his Elvis Hour and hopes that you enjoy the show. You can hear the first one at 5pm UK time on Tuesday 12th February and every Tuesday from then on.
